The Wily Ways of Wily Coyote

One of the most iconic animated character in animation history is Wily Coyote. Wily Coyote, the infamous survivor of cartoon trickery epitomizes the classic earnest modern trickster with an ingenious yet entirely impotent plan. He is always trying to catch that darned Road Runner, and constantly concocting new plans to do so - a testament to the character’s wily nature. Even after failing 99 out of a hundred times, the better part of his name remains intact for a reason; Wily as in “a wily politician” or worse. The attitude of the character encapsulates how a deceptively cunning, resourceful predator would be. Watching Wily Coyote reveals wily is indeed wily, and also stupid as his clever plans work out exactly as expected, but somehow most cleverly. In the end, the gibberish of Wily Coyote also reminds us that a brazen character can turn repeated failures in animation into triumph after retake.
